The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Alumni Association, Oyo State Chapter, held its highly anticipated election on Saturday, July 13th, 2024 at the Senior Service Club in Total Garden, Ibadan. 

The gathering was marked by a serene and beautiful atmosphere as members of the association came together to elect their new set of executives.

Despite the unavoidable absence of the global president, Hon. Olalekan Badmus, the event was ably presided over by the Vice President (South), Hon. Ojo Olayemi Abolade, who also serves as the Chairman of the Unification Committee of the Oyo State Chapter. In his opening remarks, Hon. Abolade expressed gratitude to the members for their sacrifices and delivered the goodwill message from the President.

The electoral process was overseen by the Chairperson of the Electoral Committee, Mrs. Funmi Alli Kayode, who called forth the names of the aspiring candidates. The offices of Vice Chairman, General Secretary, Assistant General Secretary, Financial Secretary, Public Relations Officer, Social Directors, Welfare Officer, and Auditor were all filled with unopposed candidates.

The highlight of the event was the race for the Chairmanship position, which saw two contenders - Mr. Abiodun Adelekan and Mr. Mayowa Eyitayo. During the manifesto presentation, Mr. Mayowa Eyitayo graciously stepped down, paving the way for the emergence of Mr. Abiodun Adelekan, also known as "Sirius," as the new Chairman of the association.

On behalf of the congress, Mr. Ayomide Babalola, aka "Flow," expressed gratitude to Mr. Mayowa Eyitayo for his selfless sacrifice, and also acknowledged the contributions of past leaders of the association. Mr. Bunmi Arise, representing the Electoral Committee, also thanked the members for their unwavering support and commitment.

The newly elected executives were then sworn in by the Chairperson, Mrs. Funmi Alli Kayode, in the presence of the Global Executives, Vice President (South), Financial Secretary, and the Secretary of the Unification Committee.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Vice Chairman, on behalf of the Chairman, Mr. Abiodun Adelekan, assured the members that the new regime will work tirelessly for the growth, development, and success of the association and its members.

 Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Alumni Association, Oyo State chapter, is gearing up for its highly anticipated end-of-the-year party, promising a night of grandeur and camaraderie.


The annual event, a staple in the association's calendar, serves as a joyous occasion for members to come together with colleagues, family, and friends. It offers a platform for reflection on the challenges and triumphs experienced throughout the year, fostering a sense of unity among the alumni.


Engr Ijadunola Ahmod, the Chairman of the association, has encouraged all LAUTECH alumni to mark their calendars for this historic celebration. Member, House of Representatives, Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, on Sunday, distributed cash grants aimed at economically empowering about 40 members of her constituency.

The grants were given after the constituents completed a 3-day training with the support of the National Commission for Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

Speaking in Ibadan, Akande-Sadipe said the training was aimed at economic empowerment of her constituents.

Akande-Sadipe added that the gesture was in fulfillment of her campaign promises made to the people, that her second term will engage them into more economic opportunities.

Mrs. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe the former Chairman, House Committee on Diaspora, also called on the government to provide soft loans for the people as a way of empowering them economically and reducing poverty in the country.

“Today 40 members of my constituency, where cleared for cash grants after participating in the Business Entrepreneurship and development", capacity development program” Akande-Sadipe said.

“I urge the participants to use the knowledge garnered during this training to be self-reliant and to improve their standard of living,” she said.

Akande-Sadipe said in addition to today's gesture which earmarks the begining of her participation in the 10th National Assembly, she has successfully trained thousands of  youths in different skills.

She said the past training programs has enabled many to become self-reliant, and have contributed their quota to the development of Oluyole constituency.

On selection criteria of beneficiaries, she said her constituency office threw it open to residents of Oluyole by reaching out to community leaders, as well as religious leaders.

The lawmaker who is representing Oluyole Federal Constituency on a 2nd term mandate, also facilitated medical equipment to Primary Health Centers, in the Constituency.

This according to her, is part of her bid to elevate the standard of healthcare delivery across her constituency. 

She said the intervention came against the backdrop of the growing demands for equitable access to quality health services in the rural areas of Oluyole.

Hon. Akande-Sadipe however, assured members of Oluyole Federal Constituency of continued excellent representation in the 10th Assembly.

Speaking earlier during a Thanksgiving service to commemorate her inauguration as member of the 10th Assembly, the Superitendent, Christ Apostolic Church, Temitope Zonal Headquarters, Pastor Richard Akinlayo Adepoju applauded Akande-Sadipe's unapologetic love for Oluyole, which is hinged on godliness and honesty. 

He commended her for touching every community in her constituency positively, calling for its sustenance as she begins her journey through the 10th Assembly. 

The State Secretary, All Progressives Congress, Mr. Tajudeen Olanite, called on residents of Oluyole to continue to support Akande-Sadipe, for more dividends of democracy.

One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Adewale Egbedun, thanked the lawmaker for the gesture and assured her of their support at all times.

Witnesses at the event include Clerics, party stalwarts, community leaders, family members and friends of the lawmaker.

Fed Poly Ayede is committed to global accounting practices – Bursar The bursar of Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Oyo State, Alhaja Rashidat Oladepo, has stressed that the institution’s bursary operations would be according to the global standards in the accounting field which is the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). She stated this on Friday after a three-day in-house workshop for all the staff of the department (bursary, audit and procurement) on Public Financial Management Reforms (PFMR), using Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) application. Alhaja Oladepo explained that the workshop became imperative due to the resoluteness of the Governing Council and the management to move the institution to high pedestal. She said, “I really want to thank the Governing Council and the management, led our amiable rector, Dr Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, for their support towards putting the workshop in place. I am sure that the participants have moved beyond where they used to be and that they will never remain the same again. “The training was meant to improve the manpower of the bursary department of our institution to enable the staff appreciate the automated financial process and practice with global standards. I also want other staff, beyond bursary, to get acquainted with the process of accessing funds and presentation of financial related requisition. “My major interest was to ensure that our bursary staff are conversant and compliant with global financial practices.” The lead resource person at the workshop, who is the GIFMIS support coordinator for South-West Ibadan zone (Oyo, Osun, Ekiti and Ondo states under the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation), Mr Adekola Adegoke, emphasised the significance of Information Technology (IT) in financial management activities. Mr Adegoke, who was assisted by the GIFMIS support officer in Oyo State, Mr Kola Jinad, said: “The Federal Government took a decisive position to automate the paperwork with which government financial management activities were conducted over the years, leading to reformation of public financial activities. “The application of IT in financial management activities of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) led to the introduction of the application called GIFMIS (Government Integrated Financial Information System) by the Federal Government with the objective of enhancing transparency and accountability in public expenditure. While speaking on the core areas of the workshop, Mr Adegoke noted, “The workshop centered on public financial process which included budget preparation skills, budget execution skills, accounting procedure/process skills, report preparation and generation skills, assets management and inventory management skills. “The training was meant to fulfill the aspiration of the Federal Government in ensuring that our accounting system complies with the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).” He, therefore, commended the trained staff for their commitment and enthusiasm which, according to him, they met up with 70 per cent appreciation of content of the training. He added that the actual test conducted after the three-day workshop suggested 90 per cent knowledge acquisition. The Registrar of the institution, Mr Akin Odesola, in his remark, said, “We thank God for the opportunity of the workshop. We appreciate the Governing Council and the rector, Dr Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed and the management for the enablement and the bursar for the ingenuity of the initiative. “We are so grateful to the resource persons for their painstaking delivery and all time responsiveness.” “I charged the trainees to make best use of the enormous wealth of knowledge gained to enhance efficiency in their work schedule and uplift the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede.” The Polytechnic librarian, Dr Samuel Ogunniyi, maintained, “We can actually attest that the staff have learnt a great deal. We appreciate the resource persons for adding values to the bursary department of the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede. “We encourage the staff to make use of the training, update their knowledge for overall contribution to the system. The workshop is a pointer to greater things to come especially as it affects other units in the Polytechnic.” Also at the event which was attended by the institution’s director of Academic Planning, Dr Mutairu Akintunde and the Dean of the School of Environmental Technology and Director of Physical Planning, Dr Kolawole Morakinyo, the Personal Assistant to the Rector and Chairman of the institution’s Corporate Communications Committee (CCC), Mr Azeez Ojo, charged the trainees to maximise the benefits of the workshop for the institution as well as their individual promotions.
