Go forth and disrupt norms- Tegbe charges Babcock University Graduands*

*Go forth and disrupt norms- Tegbe charges Babcock University Graduands*

A Governance and policy expert, Joseph Tegbe (FCA) has charged Graduands of Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo to go forth and disrupt norms, create value, and make impact. He gave this charge while speaking at the 2021 Convocation Lecture of Babcock University Ilishan-Remo titled, "Disruptive Technology in the Post-Pandemic world: Prospects for the Economy and Future Work"

Tegbe, who leads the Advisory Services for KPMG in West Africa, noted that digital technologies are disrupting entire industries, and reshaping the business landscape globally. This is because these technologies significantly alter the way that consumers, businesses and industries operate. They cause a change in the cost or access to products or services, dramatically changing how we interact, gather information and create products.

According to Tegbe, "We cannot have a conversation about disruptive technologies without talking about an essential ingredient, an ingredient that serves both as an input to the functioning of these technologies, as well as a byproduct of processing.

This key ingredient is data, and we are coming very quickly to terms with the value that data drives in our world today. Indeed, data is becoming such an asset that governments, businesses, and even professionals see it as the oil of the 21st century.

Tegbe further observed that Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics, Blockchain Technology, Internet of Things (IoT) have disrupted, and will continue to redefine industries like Transportation (ride hailing and sharing), Communications (Telework), E-commerce, Entertainment and even social interaction.

Tegbe concluded by stating that the global Covid-19 pandemic had created significant opportunity in the Nigerian market, as the environment presents a fertile ground for innovation using disruptive technology in notable sectors such as Fintech, Retail and Logistics, Agric Tech, Edu Tech, E-Commerce etc. However, taking advantage of these opportunities requires intentional effort as future-ready professionals should seek to Embrace change, Upgrade their skills and

Refocus.

 *STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE*

*ELECTRIC CAR ASSEMBLED IN NIGERIA IS A FANTASTIC INNOVATION, I CAN TELL BECAUSE I JUST DROVE IT, SAYS OSINBAJO.*

_*VP also inaugurates FRSC’s National Traffic Radio, gives live traffic update_

After driving Kona, the assembled-in-Nigeria electric car at the ongoing Made-in-Nigeria exhibition, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, concluded that the drive was fantastic and the making of the innovative car is a showcase of what is possible in our country.

Prof. Osinbajo stated this in Abuja today shortly after the unveiling of the Made-in-Nigeria fair featuring the exhibition of the first electric car assembled in Nigeria, among other locally manufactured products.

Aside touring the exhibition stands accompanied by top government officials, the Vice President drove the electric car alongside the Ministers of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo and Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Mr Jelani Aliyu.

Speaking to journalists shortly after a tour of the exhibition stands, and a ride in the electric car, Prof. Osinbajo said “it was a very good drive, fantastic. It just shows what is possible. I am glad to see that this is an assembled-in-Nigeria electric car. You can literally charge it anywhere. I think it is a very fantastic innovation; fantastic product, and I can tell because I just drove it.”

Other dignitaries at the event which is part of Nigeria’s 60th anniversary celebration include the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, Ministers of FCT, Mallam Mohammed Bello; and Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

Right after the exhibition, the Vice President also visited the Federal Road Safety Corps’ headquarters where he inaugurated the National Traffic Radio, 107.1 FM.

There he described the radio as “an important and strategic initiative in several respects. The service will enable effective dissemination of relevant information on road safety and the provision of up-to-date information on road conditions, as well as traffic status and security to the public.”

According to him, beyond the core objective of enhancing the operations of FRSC personnel, the radio station will also be useful in reaching far flung areas for teaching and dissemination of public health advisories and general information to Nigerians.

Prof. Osinbajo then featured during the radio station’s traffic report programme where he gave live traffic situation report across the country particularly from areas in and around the FCT, Jos and Lagos. He was funny and jovial about it.

“Good afternoon wherever you are in this great country, this is Yemi Osinbajo, your always ready, always accurate traffic reporter, updating you on the traffic situation across the nation.

“So, let’s go the FCT. As of a few minutes ago, the Keffi-Abuja inward section, traffic from Nyanya under bridge to Kugbo, towards the city centre, is slightly free flowing, no impediments reported.

“Umaru Musa Yar’adua way, the situation is report shows that there is free flow of traffic on both sections of the expressway. Kubwa-Katampe, Wuse-Berger, traffic services unit reports affirm that there is seamless traffic flow with moderate movement of vehicles.

“Traffic update along Lagos-Ibadan expressway as at 11:45 am did say that the inward corridor and section of the expressway is experiencing very slow but moving traffic from the stretch of lotto to NASFAT, Chinese company around Magboro, Punch-Arepo inward, Warewa, due to high influx of vehicles and the narrowed lane around the construction area. The sharp bend coupled with picking and dropping of passengers, all that is causing some slow movement around that area.

“Traffic from Plateau State from about 12 mid-day. General traffic within Jos-Bukuru metropolis is free flowing. Jos-Hawan Kibo, motorists are admonished to be mindful of hills and steep bends around Hawan Kibo.

“Also, Jos-Bukuru-Vom is experiencing free flow of traffic while motorists are advised to be careful around Ganaruwa hill. Jos metropolis, road users navigating inwards Polo-Gada Biu through the metropolis should be mindful of heavy duty vehicles and drive with extreme care. At Hill station roundabout to Polo roundabout axis is a sloppy terrain.

“So, the general conclusion is that road users are enjoined to obey traffic rules, avoid dangerous driving and use the roads as responsibly as possible. All is going to be well today, this is going to be a great and exciting day. I am sure you are going to have some really good news. Thank you dear listeners, stay safe always.”

Dignitaries at the event include Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, FCT Minister, Mallam Mohammed Bello and the FRSC Corps Marshal, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO STILL THINK BUHARI ADMINISTRATION IS WORSE THAN JONATHAN’S

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO STILL THINK BUHARI ADMINISTRATION IS WORSE THAN JONATHAN’S

Let's Examine Buhari's Performance and PDP's Performance Within The Crude Oil Powered Nigerian Economy ;-

Many people have erroneously blamed Buhari and Continued to Blame him for almost everything ,particularly poverty and hunger. The truth however revealed that Buhari is only to the rescue. The following statistics may convince you of this assertion that ,if not for Buhari's discipline and financial prudence, Nigeria would have been in deep mess.

1) Petrodollar under PDP /Obasanjo/Jonathan;-

.Crude Oil picked at $142 Per barrel and sold at average of $100 dollars throughout PDP regime.

During This period, PDP generated revenues of $1 trillion dollars from 1999 to 2015.

The PDP' Reports Card.

i) PDP Did not save money for Nigeria

ii) did not invest in critical infrastructures that are necessary to crystallise development and industrialisation

iii)Roads and Railway were in total disrepair

iv)PDP inherited 3,500 megawatts of electricity from Abdulsalam Military regime. Obasanjo alone spent $16 billion dollars on electricity, Jonathan topped it to about $25 billion yet when they left office we only added five hundred megawatts to 3500 megawatts which brought it to 4000 megawatts.Whereas China spent $22 billion dollars on world largest hydro power generating plants and generated 22,500 megawatts , Nigeria only generated 500 megawatts from $25 billion dollars.

v)PDP Government sold all Nigerian Corporations built at exorbitant rates to themselves and proxies in the name of Privatisations which qualified as day light robbery (Personalisation) at gives away prices.

vi)PDP couldn't pay the severance allowances ,gratuities and pensions of those corporations staffs they stole from us;namely, NITEL,NEPA,AJAOKUTA Steel Company and others,Railway, Nigeria Airways amongst many other's.

vii)PDP was borrowing money to pay Federal Government workers.

viii)27  States under PDP Government couldn't pay workers salaries and were indebted up to 6 to 24 months workers salaries.

ix)PDP left 29 billion dollars only in foreign reserves which is not enough for 3 months importations as Nigeria was importing all manners of  junks besides rice and other staple foods.

x)PDP did not repair our refineries, did not build new ones ,but instead introduced a regime of importations of refined petroleum accompanied with the corruption personified subsidies ,in which PDP and his Government agents paid for empty Vessels without single drop of fuel after certificated by corrupt operatives .

x)Looting and corruption was the order of the days as we have billionaire without companies and factories to their names.

2) Petrodollar under APC/Buhari;-

Crude Oil Price caved in suddenly from $120 dollars per barrels under PDP to $27 dollars per barrels under Buhari,it later crawled back to $70 and has reversed to $61 dollars per barrels .It so far stands at average of $45 dollars since Buhari came in as against average of $100 dollars under PDP. Now as a Nigerian compares this analogy;your employer is paying you N130k per month, for 16 years ,and one morning, he suddenly entered office without prior notice and reduced your salary to N30k ;that types of trouble, quagmire and confusion you will enters immediately is the shock that welcome Buhari into Government as President. Compared to PDP $394 billion dollars in 3years,Buhari only earned $94 billion in 3 years from Oil.He however responded with uncommon courage, fortitude and commitments;characteristics of his military discipline in the following ways;-

i) Buhari embraced Agriculture, downgraded wholesome importations and encouraging local productions of foods ,particularly rice production where we are now among world major producers.

ii)Buhari granted bailouts to state Governments to pay workers salaries apart from clearing Federal Government staffs salaries abandoned by PDP.

iii)Buhari paid Biafran service men pensions

iv)Buhari Paid Railway pensioners.

v)Buhari paid NITEL pensioners

vi)Buhari paid Nigerian Airways pensioners

vii)Buhari increased the Power generation from

4000 megawatts to 7 000 megawatts in less than 3 years ,and is building the abandoned  3500 megawatts Mambila hydro power aggressively.

viii) Buhari is building roads and railways as never before, expanding Airports and building second Niger Bridge as well as completing all abandoned projects

ix Buhari raised minimum wage from N18k to N30k

x)Buhari is aggressively fighting corruption, recovering loots in an unprecedented amounts and as never before.

xi) Buhari is repairing refineries, building modular ones and new standards refineries.

xii) Buhari miraculously against all odds increase foreign reserves from PDP $29 billion in an era  of boom to $48 billion in the era of economic shock.

In conclusion, Buhari's achievements in the midst of all odds, occasioned by the drastic fall in the prices of crude oil from $120 dollars per barrels to $27 dollars per barrels makes Buhari a super economic manager .A true and conscientious Leader.

OYO APC YOUTH LEADER EXPRESSES JOY OVER WIFE'S RELEASE FROM KIDNAPPERS' DEN*

*OYO APC YOUTH LEADER EXPRESSES JOY OVER WIFE'S RELEASE FROM KIDNAPPERS' DEN*

The Youth Leader of the Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo state, *Honourable Isiaka Salawu-Areokuta* has expressed his joy and relief over the eventual release of his wife, *Dr. Aderike Koshemani*, from the custody of some unknown gun men who kept her for over a week

*Mrs. Aderike Oni-Salawu*, an Ibadan-based medical doctor, was abducted late in the evening of May 23, 2021 at Aromolaran, Old-Ife Road, Ibadan by some armed men who attacked her in company of her husband while returning from work. She was made to spend eight days with her abductors who reportedly blindfolded her as they kept changing hideouts during the period.

While speaking with journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday, *Hon. Salawu-Areokuta*, expressed mixed feelings over the incident which he described as "the most agonising experience of my life which no sane human being should wish for his worst enemy. Up till this moment, I cannot understand why anybody would make any member of my family a target of abduction.

"It is only my wife who could explain the hell she went through in the hands of the kidnappers but I can tell you that it was God that saved. She told us that they kept threatening her but in the end, no physical injury was inflicted on her. We paid ransom but for certain reasons, I will not disclose the exact amount. We borrowed money to meet up with their ransom demand but we are trusting God for everything.

"However, it is very important for me to express my profound gratitude to everybody in the society who showed concern and also played key role during the period. Specifically, I must appreciate security agencies (particularly the State Police Command and the DSS), family members, friends, political associates (especially leaders and members of the APC in Oyo state and beyond), eminent religious leaders, business partners, journalists and media Organizations as well as members of the public who stood by my family throughout the period.

"All I want to say here is that the current security challenges we are facing in the society should not be handled with levity as the situation is degenerating everyday. Government at all levels must redouble their efforts and ensure that no stone is left unturned to find a lasting solution to the problem. Also, every member of the society should play their parts to assist security agencies in the task of keeping the society safe at all times." *MOGAJI-AREOKUTA* added.
